"These are my words the song I sing, not with my voice, it's with words that I bring. A part of my life, some of what I believe, a partial glimpse of the one called me."
Back In Time (OSI)

It was the day after Christmas
I was reading comics on my bed
Visions of dirty dishes
Were dancing in my head
I was the age of twelve
Cleaning dishes was my chore
My young sister entered the room
Opened the bedroom closet door
Where Mom stored our fruit
Keeping it from the light
She said it lasted longer
Without becoming over-ripe
Inside the closet
It was dark as night
My sister lit a match
To help give her a little sight
After she chose her fruit
She flipped the match to the floor
Went out of the bedroom
While I started reading some more
A little while later
My eyes started burning me
Smoke was creeping from the closet
I could barely see
I ran next door to my mama
Told her about the smoke at the closet door
Before firemen could arrive
We had a home no more
There were six children
Also my mom and dad
On that day after Christmas
We lost all we had
A Mother`s Love (OSI)

Filled with excitement
In different ways
Waiting and counting
Two hundred plus days
So many questions
About what to do
Having a child
Was something new
When my daughter was born
I knew from the start
This bundle of joy
Had captured my heart
The cut of the umbilical cord
Left our bodies free
To be bound by a love
Lasting to eternity
Nothing else equals
On this planet earth
The miracle from heaven
Of a mother giving birth

Puppies For Sale
Posted by Maggie | 1 Comment
A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the pups and set about Nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he Felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the Eyes of a little boy.Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies.""Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back of his neck, "these puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. "I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?""Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle,"Here,Dolly!" he called.Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight.
As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared; this One noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up...."I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt. The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself To a specially made shoe. Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need Someone who understands."
The world is full of people who need someone who understands

After six years of slavery, he ran away and ended up wandering through southern Gaul (France) and Italy. There, he had a vision from God which told him to return to Ireland and convert the pagans to Christianity. Returning to Ireland around 432, St. Patrick did missionary work until he died in 464. Air Force Duty (OSI)

In the military life
You learn not to cry
As every three years
You are saying goodbye
Uncle Sam wrote the orders
Saying where we would dwell
With sad heavy hearts
We would give our farewells
Promising to stay in touch
As most people do
Then off to a new base
Away to some place new
Meeting many new friends
Sometimes in a foreign land
Everyone in the military
Learned to understand
The Air Force was our family
Where ever we might go
Leaving behind our hometowns
Loving those we came to know
Retiring from the service
After serving twenty years
It took some time to adjust
Civilian life gave me fears
It was so hard at first
Living in one place
Making our own decisions
Without orders from a base

Journeying back to
A void in mind
Before the grape
Turned into wine
Refreshing the waves
Passion pouring everywhere
Life swept in like a dream
Existing without a care
Rose buds blooming
Beneath a sky so blue
Odors of precious moments
Where butterflies flew
Spreading wings so high
Basking in the warmth of summertime
A season of many tomorrows
Where everything is always fine
Returning from a journey
From drinking delicious aged wine
Listening to beautiful music
Playing within the mind
As It Is

Why is it
Many may wonder
Why some will cring
At a voice of thunder
Exposing the truth
In a profound way
To make things clear
Each and every day
Sharing a vast knowledge
Not received from school
Clarity does always reveal
The pen is a chosen tool
Ready for exchanges
From begining to end
To share a learned wisdom
Strongly embedded within
Overflowing with emotions
Tales of struggles and strife
Very easy to be expressive
When speaking of one`s own life
Fork In The Road (OSI)
Posted by Maggie on Sunday, March 8, 2009 | 30 Comments

Money was real tight
Economy very unstable
Everyone was working hard
Just to try and get food on the table
Selling vegetables from a garden
Was one way to purchase a piece of meat
To put warm clothes on the back
And sturdy shoes on the feet
One day at early sun light
Going to town with a heavy load
The fellow spied something shinny
It was a fork in the road
He climbed off his wagon
Examining his find
All sorts of thoughts
Began to race through his mind
The fork appeared to be pure silver
A name was engraved on the back
Recognizing who might be the owner
He placed the fork in a burlap sack
Hurrying to a big house
Located in the center of town
He told them of the treasure
In the road he had found
The lady in the home
Had tears falling from her eyes
As the fellow related the story
Of how he came to find this prize
She told how her son gave it to her
Just before departing for war
Later receiving a telegram
Informing she had a son no more
She was happy beyond words
He spied the fork in the road
She gave him a huge reward
Which eased his family load
Quickly he hurried home
And everyone rushed out the door
He gave the happy news
Hunger would be here no more.

Dreams

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Around Here (OSI Prompt)

As we journey onwards
Through trails and strife
We face many battles
Maintaining this life
Following many rules
In a circle we play
Relishing the games
With friends we stay
Spreading our love
In all we say
Within the circle
We visit each day
As we journey onwards
Through trails and strife
We face many battles
Maintaining this life
