"These are my words the song I sing, not with my voice, it's with words that I bring. A part of my life, some of what I believe, a partial glimpse of the one called me."

excited like children
playing with a new toy
inspiration for creativity
fills every poet with joy

to be creative
is the only way to be
while wielding a pen
flowing with poetry

splashing across pages
all through the ages
enlightening the enticed
with tales of the sages

sharing from the mind
always giving a sign
teaching some of the time
giving images to the blind

letting all see
what can come to be
when we can let
our pens flow free

keeping it simple
keeping it true
to the muse
inside of you

Veteran`s Day Rememberance

Posted by Maggie on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 | 4 Comments

War is a dreaded disease
For which there is no cure
Leaving an emptiness in lives
So very hard to endure

Thousands killed in battle
Protecting our homeland
So all Americans can enjoy
What the fallen no longer can

Some do live after the fighting
With horrible stories to tell
Images in their mind dwell
Seeming to come straight from hell

Making tears repeatedly fall
From families and ones who survive
Knowing the high price paid
For everyone who is alive

To all on the battle fronts
And those loved ones left behind
On this Veteran`s Day
You will always live in our mind

God Bless One and All

Yes Sir

This is Maggie at the age of 19
I was in my 8th week at
Lackland Air Force Base
in Texas

The plane departed from Atlanta
Soaring high in the air
Making me sort of think about
Why I was even there

On my way to Texas
Checking a brand new course
Taking me to a boot camp
In the women's air force

Traveling with other new recruits
Chasing away a bit of fear
As a different excitement
Voided all the things we did hear

Mostly all still in our teens
Our new life would soon begin
Soon ones who once were strangers
Would come together as close as kin

When we began basic training
Our drill instructor let us know
From the day we arrived at camp
The military would tell us where to go

On this day in 1967, the first black mayor of a major American city was elected: Carl Stokes of Cleveland, Ohio. And on this day 20 years ago, Douglas Wilder won the Virginia gubernatorial election, becoming the nation's first elected African-American governor. That same year of 1989, David Dinkins became New York City's first black mayor.

I was, I am, and I will be. I live in a state of confusion called Georgia by some people. Humor is my cup of tea and I do so enjoy sharing it with friends.
